Mountainous island, once again wild

Taravai is a triangular shaped mountainous island of the Gambier archipelago. It culminates at 840ft (256m) and hides in its relief many still unexplored caves. Its lush vegetation has invaded the coffee plantations whose Arabica was once the main economic resource of the island by serving as currency with the visiting sailors. Today, the main occupants of Taravai are wild goats, pigs and cattle.
