It is not always easy to determine the gender of an elephant, all the more so as males have internal testes. Females are used to be in herds, whereas adult males, larger than females, are often alone or in small groups of a few individuals. The shape of the head also gives informations about the gender. Indeed, females have an angled forehead, and males a rounded one.
