Iconic conifers of New Caledonia
0
0
Despite its tropical location, New Caledonia hosts a very large variety of conifers which mark its landscapes in a unique way. Fourteen genera and forty-three species of conifers grow there, including three native families : the Podocarpaceae, the Araucariaceae and the Cupressaceae. The Araucariaceae, with their emblematic silhouettes, dominate the coastline but also the forest and the mining maquis.
