Victoria Island is part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. This area of the world is ice-covered for most of tthe year. Perched on the roof of the world, these islands are separeted by a series of channels and bays collectively called Northwest Passage, a sea corridor connecting Atlantic Ocean to Pacifique Ocean only passable in the short Arctic summer. Lands are covered by the tundra. Terrestrial and marine mammals survive this harsh climate.
