After hunting, the hunters come down from Eiao's basaltic plateaus carrying their catch on their shoulders. These plateaus of volcanic origin have delimited triangular shapes and dominate the ocean by 1148 to 1640ft (350 to 500m). The ocean below is tinged with reddish torrents that come down from the plateau as soon as it rains.
