A direct offshoot of the 1911 Champagne winegrowers’ revolt, the General Cooperative of Champagne Winegrowers (Cogevi) was founded in 1921. Driven by passionate men determined to protect their heritage, their craftsmanship, and their independence, the Museum of the Champagne Trades was inaugurated in Aÿ-Champagne in 2015. Incredible machines and tools from the beginning of the 20th century are on display. Most of the tools are made of wood and their simplicity brings us back to the essentials of the winegrower’s trade. Humility and craftsmanship.
