The bit is one of the pieces of harness for the horses of the 'Attelages du Val d'Amour'. Usually made of steel, it consists of a straight, curved or broken part which is inserted into the horse's mouth as well as a side ring attached to the uprights of the bridle, itself connected to the reins. It allows the team leader to manually control the speed and direction of the horses by acting on the reins.
