In the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park, the Veys Bay has been home to a colony of harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) since 1989. The first births were observed in 1991, and the census of 2021 counted 254 individuals. Gray seals (Halichoerus grypus) have also appeared in the park since 2014 but do not breed there. Seals prefer to rest in the heart of the estuary, along the Carentan and Isigny channels.
