The Reims Mountain Regional Nature Park was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2015 under the entry Hills, houses, and cellars of Champagne. Over the past few years, some champagne estates, like Champagne Marguet, started using draft horses. The solid Percheron and Ardennes horses less compress the soil than tractors, and they can access some areas the machines cannot. With this process, the soil supposedly becomes more flexible and its microbial life more diverse and numerous, thus benefiting the grapes.
