The hay used to feed the cows of the Grange de la Haute Vallée in winter is made of prairie grasses. It is elaborated from a mixture of herbaceous plants (alfalfa, timothy...). They must all be mowed before heading for the cereals and before flowering for the other plants, in order to guarantee all their nutritional qualities once dried.
