Based in Saint-Pierre-le-Viger in the Seine-Maritime department, Terre de Lin has been a major stakeholder in the linen industry since 1939. Today, it keeps innovating and improving traditional techniques and has worked with two specialist equipment suppliers to improve methods for winding in the plains, unrolling by scutching, and harvesting seeds in the open field by ecapsulating. Once the flax plants are uprooted, they are put on the ground to rust thanks to the alternation of rain and sun. The micro-organisms present in the soil also have an effect on the flax stems. This process, which requires close monitoring by flax growers, can last from 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on weather conditions.
