Harness and adjustments
Bit, bridle, noseband, browband, blinder supports and guides are all elements of a horse harness clearly visible in this photo of a Comtois horse from the 'Attelages du Val d'Amour'. Each of these elements is subject to subtle adjustments so that the horse cannot unbridle itself. The traction of a carriage and the distance with the driver would in fact prevent a rapid reaction to a possible unclamping.
