Hands at the heart of artistic craftsmanship
Artistic craftsmanship - such as woodturning - allow the craftsmen to work with their hands, a common feature of a whole glossary of expressions - such as having fairy fingers, putting their hands together in a jiffy… - which put them in the spotlight. The craftsmen’s hands are worth gold and must be protected against work accidents. Forty-seven percent of those occuring in woodworking trades indeed concern the upper limbs and especially the hands and fingers in direct contact with sharp machines and tools.
