The soaps made from donkey’s milk at Domaine d’Esthine are produced using the traditional method of cold saponification. This process transforms an oil into soap and glycerine. It is the glycerine that gives the soap its moisturising properties. After mixing the necessary ingredients (donkey’s milk, organic vegetable and essential oils, and caustic soda), the soap paste is poured into moulds of various shapes. After 48 hours of saponification, the soaps are cut and dried for six weeks. They are then sold in the Domaine's shop.
