In the traditional Corsican villages, the houses - built on several floors with granite in the center/south and shale in the north - are home to the extended family. They are grouped in an apparent disorder which hides their organization in family blocks. They are sometimes connected to each other by arches or covered passages and separated by alleys with stoned stairs for the perched villages.
