The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W198) is a two-seat convertible coupe of the German carmaker that was marketed from 1954 to 1963. Designed by the designer Friedrich Geiger, it has become a legend among dream cars. The way its doors open is known as “papillon”, “Flügelturen” or “gull-wings” depending on the country. This car is the most emblematic of the Mercedes produced after the Second World War because of its originality and its technical and aesthetic qualities. One example can be seen in the Cité de l’Automobile-Collection Schlumpf (City of Automobile-Schlumpf Collection) in Mulhouse.
