The coastline of the Gulf of Santa Guilia is part of the Bonifacio Strait Nature Reserve. A barrier beach separates the sea from a tidal lagoon, formed by three streams. The whole area is a classified natural site. In summer, the 29-ha pond undergoes evaporation of one centimeter a day but it is never dried up. Thanks to its communication with the sea, the pond is a nursery for fry Mullet and Atherina fry.
