Guiding people in the turmoil

Several hamlets of Mount Lozère in the Cévennes are regularly exposed to snowstorms. To guide the inhabitants or visitors lost in the fog, small, isolated bell towers used to ring in the distance. Singularities that seem to be typical of Lozère, these structures mostly date back to the 19th century. There are five bell towers on Mount Lozère: At Oultet, les Sagnes, Auriac, Serviès, and La Fage. They are located in those hamlets where the turmoil was most likely to be fatal.
