Cette hacienda avec son moulin à sucre a été
fondée en 1796 par Ángela Josefa Padrón, veuve de Pablo Borrell y Sorel. En 1812, un de ses fils, José Mariano, l’a récupérée et a modernisé le moulin à sucre en y introduisant des nouvelles technologies. Au début du XIXe siècle, c’était un des plus importants moulins à sucre au monde.
