Qanono Cave in Lifou
2
0
At 35 minutes by plane from Noumea, the island of Lifou is part of the Loyalty Islands of the New Caledonian archipelago. It is as large as Martinique (1150 km2) but 38 times less populated and presents unspoiled nature. Located in Wé, capital of the island, this cave, also called Qanono cave, can only be visited with a guide from the local tribe. After abseiling and crossing a natural swimming pool between stalactites, not less than 7 surrealistic rooms, some of which are more than 65 ft (20 m) high, show their limestone draperies.
