The lavender flowers give lavender its purple or mauve color and heady scent. They are grouped together in terminal spikes, clusters or glomeruli at the top of the stems to which they are attached. Lavender has an inflorescence of sessile flowers which, after fertilization, contain four seeds at the bottom of their calyx.
