With its imposing size, the long twisted horns worn by males and its greyish coat finely striped with white, the greater kudu looks very beautiful. Its eyes are linked by a horizontal white line and its mouth is surrounded by white. It is distinguished by the long brown and white hairs coming down on its chest as well as by its big ears. If it is not very fast on flat ground, its hooves are adapted to rough ground where it can easily flee a pursuer and jump more than 8.2ft (2.5m) high to cross obstacles.
