The Great Egret (Ardea alba) is one of the largest ardeidae. Cosmopolitan, it occupies a very wide variety of wetlands both coastal and inland. Its long and wide wings give it a direct and sustained majestic flight with regular, ample and slow movements. Even if small fish constitute the preponderant part of its diet, it feeds on a great diversity of invertebrates and vertebrates, aquatic or terrestrial.
