Grassi Lakes

My first time driving across Canada was this past spring and en route back to Ontario we stopped at multiple highly recommended trails along the way to enjoy all of the beauty the provinces had to offer. Ever since I was little, I have always loved the mountains and finally being able to visit them was breathtaking. I was constantly astounded by the landscape that was in every direction I looked. We spent multiple nights camping out in a tent at different locations with the most spectacular view to wake up to, typically a lake with a mountain in the background which lead to a picture perfect moment on a cold, foggy morning. On a beautiful, sunny day we hiked a snowy, unused trail that climbs up higher than the general marked pathway up the mountainside in Canmore, Alberta. The goal was to reach a destination with a remarkable view of the vibrant blue Grassi Lakes that were transparent and I could clearly see the fallen logs and rocks at the bottom of the lake. Above that, there were the stunning snow covered mountains in the background. I have never been to a place that took my breath away more than this view. It was better than any mountain that I could have imagined. This view overlooks a portion of the welcoming town below. I would love to visit this town again and climb this same trail. Along our hike, we spooked a bighorn sheep, but not before we were able to snap a few photographs. Unfortunately, pictures do not give justice to this view with your own eyes in real life. This is a must see for the adventurers out there!
