Spotted Eagle-Owl on the lookout
As medium-sized owl, the spotted eagle-owl has a wingspan of 3.3 to 4.5ft (100 to 140 cm). Its facial disc goes from off-white to pale ocher. Its eyes are bright yellow. The egrets that surmount its head are prominent and very often erect. The toes are feathered to the end. It is a night hunter which spends its days hidden in abandoned trees, rocks or burrows. At night, it likes to perch on branches with a clear view, looking for preys.
