When she is ready to give birth, a lioness temporary moves away from the pride, to avoid the dominant male that may be unpredictable, violent and agressive. For the first two months of their life, she raises its cubs alone. She hides them in bushes, in tall grasses or in rock cavities, and sometimes leaves a few hours to hunt. After six or eight weeks, once back in the pride, lionesses help each other to raise and educate their cubs.
