There are many species of Gorgonians in the waters of New Caledonia. Among them, the Annella mollis is one of the largest. They can reach up to 6,56 ft (2 m) wingspan. They are found on the intermediate reefs of the lagoon, in the passes and on the outer slopes of the large reef, at a depth of 10 to 35 m. Their white polyps are on the sides of smooth branches and filter plankton.
