The Haras National du Pin estate extends over 2,718 acres (1,100 ha), including 618 acres (250 ha) of forests managed by the ONF (National Forest Office) and 1,360 acres (550 ha) of meadows rented by the INRA (National Institute for Agronomic Research) for one of the largest experimental sites in animal production (dairy and beef cattle). The Haras National du Pin itself takes care of 865 acres (350 ha) of pasture, tracks, sand work, and exercise areas for the horses as well as the Hippodrome de la Bergerie (Bergerie racetrack) inaugurated on July 30, 1823. The garden formerly created for the production of vegetables has been abandoned, nor are there any real other gardens today.
