Facing demographic growth
0
0
Until 1970, the pumping of the Moselle river and the Gorze stream supplied the city of Metz with water. Its demographic growth made it necessary to reassess the process, and the waters of the Rupt de Mad river, of better quality, were chosen. A reservoir was created on the Madine, one of its tributaries, near the village of Nonsard-Lamarche. The addition of a dam downstream allowed controlling the water flow whenever necessary. Today, Madine Lake is the largest in the former Lorraine region.
