Gérard Filippi, a cicada tamer

In general, when we approach a tree on which a cicada is singing, it very quickly turns silent. Whereas, when approached with a loud, high-pitched whistle attempting to mimic and dominate its song, it may descend along the trunk and get close to the whistler. Attracted and fascinated by the harmony of a whistle in the same tone and in accordance with its own, the cicada sometimes even climbs on top of him and freezes on his face, while continuing to sing. This is what Gérard Filippi, a passionate and patient entomologist, succeeds in doing. In the image: Gérard Filippi, Entomologist and Nature Expert, Founder of Microland Association
