All along its littoral, Corsica is dotted of Genoese towers. Their construction goes back to the invasion of surrounding territories in the 16th century. Fearing an invasion, the Republic of Genoa built these fortresses along the coast in order to guard the horizon and prevent possible assaults. The tower of Roccapina is a circular tower which is built on three levels. It is listed as a French Historical Monument.
