Furiani is located south of Bastia and north of the plain of Marana in Haute-Corse. The village, which had 5682 inhabitants in 2016, is built on a rocky outcrop around the castle of Furiani, fief of the lords of Bagnaria, of which only the tower remains. Restored by Pascal Paoli after 1763, this tower was later surmounted by a bell tower whose presence was first reported in 1839.
