From the Havre de l'Enclos to the Vieux Bassin

After long works (1668-1690) and the expropriation of the houses bordering it, the wet dock of Honfleur became the Havre de l'Enclos. It can now accommodate large tonnages and comprises an imposing lock that regulates its depth. It would later be called the Havre Neuf, the Bassin de l'Ouest, and finally the Vieux Bassin. During WWII, the Germans let it get stuck in the sand. A major scouring was undertaken in 1947, and the Vieux Bassin's functionality was restored.
