From Rue des Chevannes to Rue Pasteur

Rue Pasteur - traversed here by the town's cleaning team - is an emblematic street in the historic heart of Dole. Its proximity to the Doubs made it for a long time the place of life and activity of hemp and leather artisans. Initially called Rue des Chevannes, it first became Rue des Tanneurs at the beginning of the 19th century before being dedicated to the illustrious Louis Pasteur. This international scientist was indeed born on December 27, 1822 at the current number 43 of this street, then occupied by his parents Jean-Joseph Pasteur and Jeanne-Étiennette Roqui.
