From a flaw to a trademark

In 1956, the Verrerie de Biot turned a flaw of poorly refined glass into its trademark by deliberately creating gas bubbles in the mass of molten glass. It then transformed the bubbled glass into a decoration process by developing the technique and the machine allowing the harmonious distribution of baking soda powder on the hot glass ball while it is being shaped. Such a process made it possible to trap the bubbles between two layers of glass.
