Its motor-racing track allows the Cité de l'Automobile to expand from 10 to 20 acres (4 to 8 ha). The site is the first complex to have created an outdoor space complementary to an automobile museum. The circuit's three rings are accessible to associations and clubs such as the AIAM, which restore old models for the museum. Their members use their know-how to maintain cars, some of which go back to the 1920s or 1930s and sometimes circle the circuit. The motor-racing track is intended as a meeting place between enthusiasts and spectators.
