About 30% of the veterinary cares given to Hermann's tortoises (Testudo hermanni hermanni) by Franck Bonin and Stéphane Gagno at the clinic of the Village des Tortues of Carnoules concern injuries caused by dogs near villages and housing estates. The typical injuries they face are bitten or severed legs and gnawed or fractured shells. The youngest tortoises are the most vulnerable, but the adults are not immune to this risk despite their harder shells.
