Francis Jourdain's wall painting

The realization of the friezes adorning the dining room of the Villa Majorelle was entrusted to Francis Jourdain. Then a painter, his works were naïve, and their lack of perspective made them look like tapestries. Faithful to the symbolism of Art Nouveau, Jourdain chose an animal and floral theme for his friezes, some of which were framed in precious wood. Francis Jourdain abandoned painting in 1913 in favor of furniture design.
