The marl limestone cliffs of Western Bessin are listed by Natura 2000 and under its protection since 2005 according to the Birds European directive. Research demonstrates an acceleration of the landslides that destroy the cavities and cornices that offer refuge to many seabirds. Species native to high latitudes, such as the Northern Fulmar, the Kittiwake, the Crested Cormorant, or the Herring Gull, come to the area to nest and reproduce.
