The temperatures of the Arctic zone are rising twice faster than in the rest of the world. This warming causes a number of upheavals, including the multiplication of the fractures on the pack ice, the reduction of its global volume, the melting of the permafrost, the rise of the sea level. The fracturation and the decrease in volume and extent of the Arctic sea ice notably have a significant impact on the marine mammals whose survival depends on ice.
