The municipality of Mont-Dore wishes to boost the tourist appeal of its resort by developing four seasons activities. Mont-Dore, which is already Auvergne's number one spa resort in terms of visitors, also has many other assets. It holds the oldest electrified funicular in France and offers access to the roof of the Massif Central via the Sancy cable car. The resort also holds numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, a via ferrata, and the Voldonia, a 2,296 feet (700 m) winding zip line.
