The founder and first superintendent of the Hospices de Beaune from 1452, Nicolas Rolin set almost all the administrative tasks. It was he who decided in particular on the conditions of engagement of the priests, the rules of work and reception, and the amount of the annual income of the hospital. This organization was codified by the proclamation of a charter dated August 31, 1459. The function of superintendent being hereditary on the line of Nicolas Rolin, his son Jean Rolin succeeded him in 1462, then his wife Guigone de Salins in 1469.
