The shape of the underwater wrinkles varies with the movements of water. In case of waves, it is symmetrical, they are oscillation wrinkles. If the movement is caused by a current, the wrinkles are asymmetrical and called current wrinkles. The face exposed to the current is gently sloping, the one under the current has a steeper slope, like terrestrial dunes.
