1
0
Composed of more than 80% of endemic species - notably tree ferns, palm trees, orchidaceae or myrtaceae - the humid and dense forest of New Caledonia stretches discontinuously along the Central Chain of Grande-Terre of which it occupies 20% of the area, i.e 2,485sqmi (4,000km2). It is an evergreen forest whose trees lose their leaves at different times and which, therefore, remains green all year round.
