Forest of the Reims Mountain

In the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park, forests account for 40% of the area, i.e. approximately 20,000 hectares. In the heart of the park, the forest is mainly composed of deciduous trees, mainly oaks, hornbeams, and beeches. The forest is dense, dotted with clearings that bear witness to significant human activity. Thanks to the chalky soil, the flora of the undergrowth is rich in about fifty species of wild orchids, from the musk orchid (Herminium monorchis) to the burnt orchid (Neotinea ustulata) of the chalky lawns.
