Between 2000 and 2002, the library of Mont Sainte-Odile saw the collection of old books from its monastery diminish dramatically. The work of a thief who had found a secret passage leading to the library. He was a professor named Stanislas Gosse. He was not motivated by money and stole for the love of books. He kept them all at home. During a search in the Strasbourg suburbs, the gendarmes found more than 1,100 books of variable value. The thief also stole precious volumes written in Latin, a language he was able to read.
