The degraded oceanic climate which reigns in the plain of Alsace is favorable to the vines. In spring and winter, it often generates mist which gives back all its mystery to the landscape of vines and hunchbacked valleys. Wedged between the Vosges and the Black Forest, the wide plain unrolls its small roads that already existed in Celtic and Roman times. You can even still see a Roman landmark, below the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, in the village of Orschwiller.
