La particular situación de la Península Ibérica y su extraordinariamente variada geografía permiten el asentamiento en nuestro territorio de un buen
número de especies animales y vegetales, cuya presencia es poco menos que impensable en otros lugares de Europa. Una de esas especies es la
focha moruna, un rálido de distribución africana, que alcanza el sur del territorio ibérico y constituye una de las mayores originalidades de nuestra avifauna. Desgraciadamente, la situación de la especie es crítica y, de no poner pronto remedio, parece condenada a extinguirse en poco tiempo.
