The flowers of the Prickly Pear tree (Opuntia ficus-indica) generally appear on the areolas located at the top of the cladodes or on their sunniest faces. The flowers have orange yellow petals, numerous stamens and a pistil surmounted by a multiple stigma. Each aerola normally gives only one flower.
