Flourishing grove in the heart of Balagne

Northwestern of Corsica, a road finishes its winding run to the hilltop village of Sant'Antonino. From the 16th century, this part of Balagne is a veritable flourishing garden of cereals, olive trees, almond trees, fig trees. Stone walls called tramizi were built on the promontory’s sides to allow picking olives. At the beginning of the 19th century, 20 oil mills were actively processing these rich crops.
